The Case of the Missing Shaving Blade! CME/CE
A 41-year-old cognitively impaired man who possibly ingested a shaving blade is presented to the ED. The patient has been living in a residence for the mentally impaired for the past 31 years, and he is dependent on his caregivers. At no point have the patient’s caregivers noticed the patient coughing or choking; however, they are still worried about the possibility that he might have ingested or aspirated the blade. The patient is not in any distress. A chest radiograph is taken. What is seen on the radiograph?

Any guesses?

Really cool feature from cnn.com where you can read/watch all of the presidential inauguration speeches in U.S. history. There’s also some interesting trivia- type info on each president. I can’t get over how eloquent the speeches were back in the day!

I hope this isn’t the start of more disappointing things to come. Maybe my hopes were set a little too high?

I can only speculate that Obama’s choice of Rick Warren (some crazy evangelical superchurch leader and “author”) was a political one. What better way to win the support of all the radical wackadoodles out there than having an anti-gay, anti-choice preacher give the Inauguration invocation. Warren seems to think that gay marriage is not a political issue, but rather “a moral issue that God has spoken clearly about”. I think I just vomited in my mouth.

Who can say they are a leader in advocating for the poor, diadvantaged, and HIV/AIDS infected and be a homophobe? Newsflash, Mr. Warren, the gay population is one of the most at risk for HIV and AIDS. Hypocrite.

Having to listen to this guy during what is to be one of the greatest moments in our country’s history is just ruining it for me. Ugh.
